Acne Treatment

What is IPL?

IPL is a third generation Intense Pulsed light system used for permanent hair reduction, skin rejuvenation, acne, thread veins and wrinkle reduction.

What is Acne Treatment?

This is a great treatment for clearing an annoying spot or boil, especially before an important event where looking good is essential. In this case it would be best to use the treatment a week before the special date. It is also great for anyone with permanent acne, as they will greatly benefit from regular treatments.

The innovative and advanced IPL system filters light from a flash lamp in two targeted ways to ensure that only light with the appropriate wavelength is allowed to reach the skin to prevent future acne. Haemoglobin, the red pigment in the blood, absorbs this light and heats up in the fine blood vessels that supply the sebaceous glands. This causes minor injury to the sebaceous glands, which decreases the overproduction of oil that leads to acne.

This solution to dealing with acne is easy and essentially painless, as any potentially harmful wavelengths are filtered out by our advanced IPL system.

Does it hurt?

The sensation will vary from client to client. The sensation that is felt depends upon the amount of melanin found in the skin. Clients describe it as a heat sensation and with a light sunburn feel after treatment.

What to expect?

Acne Treatment will show mild redness of the skin initially after treatment and a slight crust might appear. This is a good sign that the skin is doing its job and repairing the skin.

Do I have to have a test patch?

Yes, test patching and consultation is mandatory by law. It gives us the chance to assess the skin (see how you skin reacts). One of the technicians will quote you a price and go through a consent form with you, then if all is good (no photo-sensitive conditions, immune system problems etc.) we will perform a test patch. This consists of about 3 IPL shots on an inconspicuous place in the area. We will then book you in for 2 weeks later to carry out a full treatment.

Do I need to shave before treatment?

It is advised to shave the area before treatment as this achieves the best results. Hairs should be no longer than 1mm in length.

I understand the process and want to come in for treatment.

If you’re ready for skin rejuvenation, just pop in to see us. We can get one of the technicians to talk to you, and book you in for a test patch/consultation. Or alternately call or message us to book a test patch/consultation. We hope to see you soon.
